Chatto Grower Bird Pinot Noir 2024
95 POINTS - James Suckling
"Delicate and high-toned with aromas of pomegranate, strawberries, blood oranges, citrus peel, summer flowers and crushed stones. The palate is tightly wound with very fine tannins and a bright line of acidity that leads into a crunchy, vibrant and mouthwatering finish. Don't be fooled by the color here—this is a very serious wine beneath all the elegance and finesse. Drink or hold. Screw cap."
Planted by Tasmanian pioneer Dr Andrew Pirie in 1998, Bird vineyard is in the Pipers River region in the north east of Tasmania. Thanks to the generosity of the team at Pipers Brook, we are lucky to get a lovely parcel of clone 114 Pinot from the Bird Vineyard.
Hand-picked 100% de-stemmed fruit fermented for 10 days on skins. Hand-plunged and using indigenous yeast, the wine was aged in 1 and 3 year old French oak puncheons.
