Clyde Park has two plantings of Shiraz, one on the upper flats comprising black volcanic loams over clay. The other, which we call E Block, is on a steep north-facing slope and is also volcanic loams over limestone, though this site is littered with rocks and smaller stones – one of our most difficult yet rewarding plots. The Locale Shiraz is the personification of a cool climate.
It is a perfectly medium-bodied Shiraz, with characters of bright purple and blue fruits, as well as a subtle but lingering spice of black pepper.
