Dawson James Pinot Noir 2018

Trophy – Best Tasmanian Pinot Noir
International Wine Challenge London 2021

The eighth release of the single vineyard Pinot Noir from the Meadowbank vineyard in the upper Derwent Valley in Southern Tasmania. Grapes came from MV6 and Pommard clone vines planted in 1989.

Dawson James Pinot Noir is sourced from some of the original vines planted on the Meadowbank vineyard in the Derwent Valley. The MV6 and Pommard clone vines, planted in 1989, make them some of the most mature vines producing wine in Tasmania today. We value the grapes from these mature vines for the depth, texture and structure that they contribute.

Tasting Notes:
Bright clear crimson-purple; a very good pinot, the bouquet fragrant and complex, the palate joining in the mix of dark cherry and truffled plum fruits, spice and whole bunch tannins. The fruit has absorbed 40% new Taransaud oak without batting an eyelid but enjoying the ride through to the aftertaste
