Domaine Félines Jourdan Picpoul de Pinet Classique

APPEARANCE
Typical pale yellow colour with silver highlights.

AROMA
The nose is expressive, floral on acacia, lily and lemon blossom.

PALATE
The palate is tender and tangy. Beautiful acidity balanced by the amplitude given by this very dry vintage which is particularly successful in the piquepoul.

GRAPES/BLEND
100% Piquepoul.
-
Located at Mèze, near the “Bassin de Thau” in the Languedoc, Domaine Félines was purchased by the Jourdan family in 1983. Forty hectares of vines are planted on soils which are mostly chalk and clay. Rainfall is low, but the area benefits from refreshing moist breezes due to its proximity to the sea. The nearby bird reserve and Thau Lagoon were developed to protect the local environment. The Jourdan family undertook a replanting programme using improved varieties, and farm using sustainable practices.

The old-fashioned southern French white variety, Picpoul de Pinet, was first produced at the domaine in 1992. Picpoul de Pinet is captivating, yielding fresh, crisp, dry white wines with aromas of citrus, exotic fruits and florals with hints of fennel and minerality. The wonderful backbone of acidity and depth of fruit Picpoul de Pinet can generate is evidenced in Claude Jourdan’s newly released Cuvée Féline.
