Jean-Michel Giboulot took over the family business in 1982 and has put together one of the best bang-for-your-buck portfolios in all of Burgundy over the last thirty years. His wines from Burgundy's Savigny-lès-Beaune appellation are known as great values, and both the reds and whites are equally strong. Giboulot's wines straddle the line between traditional and modern, with reds that have just-picked red fruit notes and fine tannins. This release from the Aux Grands Liards vineyards blends ripeness and purity in equal measure. The vineyard is nestled right in the center of Savigny-lès-Beaune, just below a band of 1er Cru sites including Aux Serpentières, Aux Gravains, and Les Lavières. This vineyard’s unique soil combines Burgundy's famous Burgundian with ferrous clay, which lends a nice depth and dark brooding quality to the wines from this site.
