Joie du Palais sits near La Madone. The vines are 65 years old, planted at an exceptionally steep gradient of 40-50%. This is great terroir but very hard to work, Frédéric says. It is worked by horse at the top, but lower down requires the use of a winch. The nose shows some restraint, with pure, fresh fruit character. This is complex and subtle, with round tannins. The fruit is entirely de-stemmed.
