Domaine Laurent Habrard Hermitage Les Rocoules 2018
Laurent Harbrad, a 5th generation winemaker, took over the Estate from his parents in 1998, and today oversees 15 hectares spread across Crozes-Hermitage, Saint Joseph and Hermitage. Certified Organic since 2011, Laurent Habrard has been working towards reducing the vineyard's environmental impact, often referring to organic conversion as a way of apologising to Mother Nature. The harvest is done exclusively by hand and Laurent picks grapes in small boxes to avoid oxidation.
As we approach the glass, exquisite hints of pear, butterscotch, and lemon are raised, followed by a subtle touch of vanilla from a tiny parcel of Marsanne from extremely ancient vines on the famed place du Rocoules. A silky texture is complemented by great acidity, and flavours of nashi pears, crushed minerals, and bitter citrus accompany a long fresh finish.
