The Pinot Noir clones are unknown and include 10% Pinot Meunier planted at Cullarin by Dr Edgar Riek in 1971.
Tasting Notes
Light red with bright red hues. This wine is youthful and vibrant with intense aromas and flavours of bright red fruit and spice. A medium bodied structure with soft tannins medium length and persistent natural acidity.
Winemaking Notes
75% of the grapes were lightly crushed and 25% left whole bunch in a 3 tonne open fermenter. Plunging occurred twice a day during the alcoholic fermentation. The wine was then aged in older French oak barriques for 8 months. No fining nor filtration occurred before bottling in December 2022.
