Gibson Burkes Hill Single Site Eden Valley Shiraz 2022

Like the neighbouring Barossa Valley, Eden Valley experienced a season that was statistically close to average, yet varied across the region. A welcome return of winter rainfall — including over 100mm in both June and July — replenished soils and dams after several dry years, setting up strong early vine growth. Good spring rainfall filled the soil profile to capacity, delaying irrigation until December.

Wind and rain during November fruit set reduced yields, naturally concentrating the crop. While the growing season finished slightly drier than average, mild conditions defined the vintage. Spring and summer temperatures were generally below average, with few extreme heat events. These gentle ripening conditions allowed fruit to develop slowly and evenly, preserving natural acidity and aromatic purity.

Although the late October storm impacted parts of the region, many vineyards produced smaller crops of impressive intensity. The result is a vintage defined by balance, freshness and refined structure — wines with clarity, vibrancy and elegant natural acidity.
