A relatively new range to Giesen ‘Uncharted’ inviting you to discover the best of Marlborough. A place between the snow and the sea where mountain ranges give way to rivers and sunshine reigns supreme. Particular attention to detail is given to these wines selecting small premium parcels of fruit and for this Pinot it comes from the best Pinot sites in Marlborough that of their Southern Valleys vineyard. The high clay soils result in rich stylish Pinots with great ageing potential. All handpicked destemmed and transferred to vat via gravity for fermentation. Some vats have a percentage of whole bunches adding complexity and supple fine grain tannins.
Smells
an array of red berry fruit aromas cranberries and blackberries supported by heady herbal and meaty notes that intrigue and make you take another deep sniff of the bouquet.
Tastes
There is an energy to this wine a vibrancy that’s striking with both red and dark berry flavours lingering throughout encased in fine silky tannins inherent to whole bunch ferments that hug your cheeks. All are balanced by the salivating acid drive and long length. No rush to drink as will cellar 6-8 years and will be perfect with gamey meats.
