MDI Nosiola, Malvasia, Garganega, Picolit NMGP
Ever heard of Nosiola? Neither had we. It’s another golden-skinned white variety found in Italy’s northeast, predominantly in Trentino and used in the famous Vin Santo wines of the region. In this wine, Nosiola lends nutty, floral complexity and soft texture. The rest of the blend comprises Malvasia, Garganega and Picolit. The MDI team draw on two sources of fruit: Chalmers and Pasut, both located in Mildura. The fruit landed to the winery in early March. All parcels were destemmed and fermented together on skins for a comparatively short (by MDI standards) two-week maceration. The wine was then pressed to a single puncheon and remained there for over a year before being bottled in July 2024
