Pierro ‘Pino’s’ Pinot Noir Shiraz 2018

This blend is vintage of two grape varieties: 85% Pinot Noir and 15% Shiraz, harvested from vineyards in the Margaret River wine region. This wine has an alcohol level of 13.5% and is coloured a medium-red, with aromas of cherry fruit, strawberry, dark cherry and hints of floral perfume. It has more body and depth of flavours than previous vintages. Although an unusual blend, the addition of 15% Shiraz has added savoury peppery influences and structural tannins that help both the mouth-feel and the wine’s capacity to enhance after additional cellaring. The palate is delicate and well-structured, with fine tannins supporting wild strawberry and subtle spice, altogether leading to a peppery red-fruited finish. Being a medium-bodied wine, it matches well with seared chicken liver, rib-eye veal, Peking duck, fennel-garlic pork roast and vegan enchiladas.
