San Pietro Shiraz

Grown in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range, just south of Benalla in Central Victoria. San Pietro Shiraz is fermented in open vats, hand plunged, pumped over and then matured in selected mixed forest oak.

The wine has a generous nose of chocolate, plum and spice. The front and mid palates are full, driven by complex fruit and subtle oak. The finish is structured around delicate tannins. It is soft and long with the promise of creaminess with age.

Underground Winemakers commenced operations in 2005 when three wine and vineyard professionals found themselves surplus to their employer's requirements.

Fortune gave us the lease of an established Mt Eliza winery and vineyard with some of the oldest plantings on the Mornington Peninsula. Our vision is to create vibrant wines true to the style and expressive variety offered by the Monington vineyards.

Our peninsula vineyards provide pinot noir, grigio, gris and chardonnay. Durif is from Northern Victoria. People often tell us nice things about our Sparkling Cuve and Moscato.
