Schloss Johannisberg a pioneering Rheingau estate has been around since 1720 and was one of the first to cultivate only Riesling. Their unique quartzite terroir on hillsides overlooking the Taunus mountains gives their wines a distinct and clean minerality. They ferment their wines in both temperature-controlled stainless steel and local oak casks then age them on lees for added complexity. The Riesling Silberlack 2022 is a hand-harvested organically grown medium-bodied dry Riesling with concentrated notes of stone fruit flint and chamomile. It balances intensity and finesse with fine-grained tannins leading to a vibrant wet-stone finish. While enjoyable now it will reach its peak after 2026. If you love spicy food like Thai curry or the freshness of sashimi the Riesling Silberlack 2022 is a perfect pairing.
