
Stift Gottweig Grüner Veltliner ‘Furth’ Kremstal DAC 2021
Stift Göttweig is one of the oldest wineries in Austria and originally belonged to the Benedictine monastery of the same name, located at an altitude of 500 metres. The first documents mentioning the vineyards on the Göttweiger Mountain in the Kremstal date back to the year 1083. The winery has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2000.
The vineyards near the monastery have been used for centuries to produce mass wine. In the past and still today, the mass wine could only be made with the permission of the bishop.
Nowadays, mainly Grüner Veltliner and Riesling are grown on the wine estate of approximately 26 hectares. The wines are characterized by their fresh minerality in combination with a generous richness.
