Domaine Sylvain Pataille is located in Marsannay-la-Côte, in the northern part of the Côte d'Or, Burgundy . It was founded by Sylvain Pataille in 1999 with just one hectare of vines while he was still working as an oenologist in a laboratory in Beaune. In 2001, he decided to dedicate himself fully to his own vineyard and expand it, which now covers 17 hectares. All the vineyards, whether within or just outside the Marsannay appellation, are certified organic .

Clos du Roy is a single-vineyard Pinot Noir . Fermentation and maceration last 22 days, and aging takes place on fine lees for 15 to 18 months in oak barrels , 30% of which are new .
