This wine comes from both parcels of Chardonnay from Guffen's Château des Tourettes and number of vineyards in the Luberon, the high country of Provence nestled between the Alpes de Haute Provence and the Vaucluse plain. This year the wines were fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged entirely in seasoned oak barrels (the wine was previously 80% tank reared). The purity of Guffen's 2015 fruit also allowed for extend lees contact this year, so fans of this wine might notice the upsurge in texture. It's creamy-textured Provençal white with subtle stone fruit and herby notes that speak of the south. There's some rich, rolling fruit for that endangered species who like their Chardonnay with real flavor and fruit, but also plenty of the classic Guffens purity, precision and rocky freshness.
