Word has gotten around that South Tyrol produces very special white wines. The Walch family estate, which has had its home in the wine village of Tramin since 1869, is one of the leading wine producers in the entire region. A good example of the passionate work of the Walchs is the Chardonnay Pilat. The hand-picked grapes come from some extremely steep and calcareous rock sites. The wine is produced in the cellar without aging in wood and matures for a long time on the fine lees. With its particularly beautiful freshness and juicy nature, it offers an elegant alternative to the French Chablis.
