Based on the Premier Cru from Burgundy, now marked with the “1G” logo, this local Riesling from Weingut Wittmann comes from the best Westhofen locations, all of which are characterized by limestone. The typical Riesling fruit is clearly evident in the bouquet, but not intrusively. White peach and citrus are dominant here, but there is also a hint of yellow apple. The counterpoint to the fruit aromas is a mineral vein and hints of fine, spicy herbs that are already noticeable in the nose. On the palate, the origins of Riesling can no longer be denied: a chalky, salty minerality literally vibrates on the tongue, yet very dense and powerful with lots of stony, smoky aromas. Together with notes of lime and grapefruit, an enormously layered and complex taste image is created. The acidity is very noticeable, but is by no means sharp or disturbing. Rather, it underlines the slim character of the wine and ensures a long and reverberating taste.
