"Pet Nat” is short for Pétillant Naturel an ancient French method of creating a sparkling wine by bottling the wine just before fermentation finishes so it continues in bottle, thus creating the bubbles. This does leave some sediment so it’s a good idea to stand it up in the fridge before serving. An added bonus of this style is its preservative free.
Made from a field blend of early picked Sangiovese and Shiraz it has delightful red berry aromas of strawberries and cherries. The light fizz gives lift and brightness to the palate and a refreshing finish. Best drunk young and at the start of a meal so go with a charcuterie board that offers a variety of flavours and textures – creamy cheeses, salty cured meats, crusty bread, green olives, pistachios and strawberries to suggest a few.
