Volnay has a reputation for making more feminine wines than Pommard. Never trust conventional wisdom. Depending on the plot of land, the type of plant, the growing method and the vinification, styles can vary greatly. The domaine’s philosophy is to let the terroir’s personality express itself as much as possible. This Volnay is serious and powerful. I find the style quite similar to that of Taillepieds.
