Aged in large French oak botti, Maurizio seeks elegance and high toned aromatics with this awesome value Barolo from the Tantesi sub-zone of Bricco San Pietro on the western slopes of Monforte d'Alba. The purity of fruit matters and is something that Maurizio will be famous for as his reputation grows. The 2018 is a racy, pretty wine with focus, length and plenty of detail.

Tobacco and dried floral scent with red and also a little black berry notes, a hint of dried tomatoes and tar. Quite taut, tart, yet relatively juicy fruit, present, ripe tannin, smoky notes and dried herbs, salt in the background, also peppery-ethereal spice and again a little tar, certain depth, still undeveloped, juniper tones, very good, firm, very slightly smoky-roasty finish with relatively fresh juice, some bite and again pepper.
