This 12-year-old single malt Scotch whisky, aged and bottled in Scotland, presents a beautiful amber colour that conceals a peaty intensity enhanced by the unique influence of Ratafia Champenois—aptly named “The Dumangin Champagne Twist.” Distilled in October 2007 on the Orkney Islands, part of the Islands/Highlands region, it spent 11 years maturing in a refilled hogshead before finishing for 7 months in a Ratafia Champenois barrel (T-032). Bottled in November 2019, this limited release comprises just 413 individually numbered bottles, each presented in a gift box. Non-chill filtered and bottled at 46% ABV, it delivers smoky flavours and a refined peat character, beautifully rounded by the Ratafia cask influence. With only two distilleries on Orkney’s main island, a touch of mystery remains as to its exact origin.
